Chicago-based attorney Tamara Holder has now filed suit against NorthShore University System on behalf of five female patients who were "examined" by Fabio Ortega at clinics in Skokie and Lincolnwood, as well as at Evanston Hospital. Attorney Holder's first client filed suit in January of 2019. As a result of that filing, additional women have come forward and Attorney Holder has since filed an additional four lawsuits. Ortega was indicted in 2018 for sexually abusing a female patient in 2017. Despite NorthShore knowing that Ortega had received multiple complaints for sexually perverted conduct, they allowed him to continue to see patients, without warning patients about his past.
